In the heart of Delhi-NCR, on September 29, 2023, the esteemed Sun City School opened its doors to welcome the Shaktis, a group of empowered girls from the Sarvam Foundation, a dedicated NGO committed to their holistic development. Situated in Sector 54 of Gurgaon, the Sun City School became the canvas for a unique performance that left an enduring impact on all who were present. For the Shaktis, this event marked a significant milestone in their journey of self-improvement through Sarvam's various programs.
The day began early as the Shaktis boarded a bus provided by Sun City School. The unexpected challenge of accommodating 52 Shakti performers was met with remarkable support, as the school arranged a larger bus with around 60 seats for their return journey. Despite the initial setback and a slight delay, the Shaktis radiated unstoppable potential throughout the journey. Sun City School's gracious invitation demonstrated their commitment to uplifting marginalized girls.
Esteemed Chief Guests, Mrs. Hemangi Bhatnagar and Mrs. Nanda Karmalkar, joined the Shakti girls for a traditional 'lighting of the lamp' ceremony, symbolizing the bright future these Shaktis are forging for themselves.
Two inspiring speeches, one by Ms. Khushi, a senior Shakti, and the other by Ms. Mansi, a junior Shakti, set the stage for the Sarvam performances. These speeches displayed the linguistic strides made through Sarvam's English Teaching Program and the newfound confidence to express themselves on a public platform. The performances that followed were nothing short of spectacular, featuring classical dance and yoga. The Shakti girls displayed sharp dance moves, intricate expressions, and resolute confidence, demonstrating the progress achieved through dedicated training.
It was an inter-school competition, organized by the school.
On the beautiful theme of "Uketamo", the Sarvam girls danced and did yoga asanas with the same energy as always. Following the program, a moment of relaxation awaited the Shaktis, providing an opportunity to learn about the importance of nutrition and its role in their holistic development. The day concluded with the Shaktis returning to the Sarvam Center, tired yet elated, having left an indelible mark on The Sun City School faculty.
The holistic approach, including spoken English improvement, computer classes, classical dance, and rigorous Hatha Yoga training, along with nutritious meals, equips the Shaktis to grow into strong, confident, and expressive individuals.
The Shakti team represents hope and transformation.
Their journey from uncertainty to confidence and skill is a testament to their dedication and the support they receive from the Sarvam Foundation. It's an ongoing journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and growth, inspiring all who witness their remarkable performances. The Sarvam team that accompanied Shaktis, included Mrs. Hemangi Bhatnagar (Chief Empowerment Officer), Mrs. Nanda Karmalkar (sister of Mrs. Hemangi), Mr. Vijay Kumar (Office Operations Coordinator), Mr. Vivek Singh Rana (Videographer & Video-editor).
Shaktis just loved to perform and unleash their potential in front of a large audience at the school.
