The Durga Pooja celebration by Sarvam Shakti Foundation this year was more than just an event—it was an experience of strength, grace, and transformation. Held at the Community Halls of Sector 8 Pocket B and C-8, Vasant Kunj, on 27th and 28th September, the event brought together art, devotion, and empowerment in the most heartwarming way.

Over 40 young Shaktis performed on stage, filling the hall with their energy and expressive confidence. The performances included a Kathak group of 8 participants performing one song and a Bharatnatyam group of 8 participants performing two pieces. Along with these, there were two Yoga groups—one with 12 students and another with 10—who presented mesmerizing sequences of balance and grace.

The event also featured 20+ powerful skits and speeches, each echoing stories of courage, growth, and unity. The pieces performed—“Jai Bhagwati Devi,” “Taraana,” “Aigiri Nandini,” “Chamundey,” “Garba,” and the Yoga presentation “Vo Shakti Hai”—were not just art forms but living prayers, celebrating the many shades of womanhood and strength. From the rhythmic beats of Garba to the serenity of Yoga, every act reflected devotion and confidence in equal measure.

The senior Shaktis also performed in the Garba and Kathak presentations, and it was truly visible how Sarvam has molded them into confident, graceful, and expressive individuals. Their poise and presence reflected years of growth, mentoring, and belief. The community hall was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, setting a tone of reverence and celebration. The organizers and audience members welcomed the Shaktis respectfully, creating a warm, encouraging atmosphere. Everyone appreciated the performances, and many from the audience even asked about Sarvam Shakti Foundation, learning that through Neha Didi, the girls had found this platform of expression—one that has helped them gain confidence and discover their own identity.Several students shared how watching others perform inspired them to step up too, breaking their hesitation and finding their voices.

One of the skits showcased how the Foundation provides nutrition, education, and skill development, empowering them holistically. The girls spoke with gratitude for Hemangi Ma’am, whose guidance and belief in them made this transformation possible. “Our schools never gave us a chance,” one of the girls said, “but here, we got our first opportunity to perform. And now, we win—not just on stage, but in our schools and everyday life.”The performances radiated pride, energy, and enthusiasm. Even when nervous at the beginning, the girls quickly found their rhythm as soon as the music began.

The audience recorded videos, cheered, and clapped along—fueling the performers’ motivation. After the event, delicious food was served, and the hall buzzed with laughter, pride, and fulfillment.Behind the scenes, the story was just as inspiring. The senior Shaktis guided the younger ones, helping them with steps, costumes, and calming their stage fright. Teachers were there every step of the way, ensuring every girl felt supported. The stage was big, the lights bright, and the expectations high—but together, they rose beautifully to the occasion. Other participants from different groups also performed songs, adding to the festive spirit. As a psychology major observing the event, I couldn’t help but see how art and confidence intertwine to create empowerment.

Each performance wasn’t merely an expression—it was healing, grounding, and strengthening. When a young girl finds her rhythm on stage, she begins to find it within herself too. The nervousness before the curtain rises slowly transforms into joy, pride, and belonging as the music flows. This Durga Pooja event was not just a cultural gathering—it was a celebration of self-belief. The Sarvam Shakti Foundation once again proved how a safe, nurturing platform can help girls find their voice, confidence, and identity through art. It reminded everyone present that when guided with love and purpose, art becomes a bridge between fear and strength—between hesitation and power.
