  • Empowering Girls with the Power of Holistic Education and Stopping the Early Child Marriages

Child marriage continues to be a persistent problem in many marginalized communities, dragging young girls into further cycles of poverty and limiting their future opportunities. Sarvam Foundation is a beacon of change, working to eradicate child marriage through its holistic education programs that empower girls and equip them with the tools to say no to early marriage. Empowering Girls Through Education At Sarvam Foundation, education is a transformative force. The foundation provides girls with high quality after school program, teaching girls essential life skills , building their confidence, and helping them understand their rights. These girls learn why early marriages are not good for their well-being. Education gives them the power to make informed decisions and stand firm against societal pressures. Engaging Communities for Change Sarvam recognizes that true change begins within the community. By organizing workshops for students, parent-teacher meetings, the foundation advocates against child marriage and highlights the long-term benefits of educating girls. This open dialogue fosters a supportive environment where education is prioritized, shifting mindsets and helping communities see the value of educating girls rather than pushing them into early marriages. A Journey of Personal Growth Every girl in Sarvam’s programs undergoes a personal journey. From developing communication skills to embracing their identity through dance and creative expression, they learn that their voices matter. This personal growth translates into the power to make choices for themselves. • Classical Dance: A Powerful Voice for Change and Empowerment

At Sarvam Foundation, classical dance is not just an art form; it’s a powerful voice for those whose stories are often unheard . For the Shaktis, classical dance transcends the traditional performances that celebrate culture and heritage. It becomes a pathway to empowerment, self-awareness, and confidence. Every graceful movement and every elegant step becomes a form of storytelling, where strength and emotion unite to break down barriers and rewrite their own narratives. Dance as a Language of Strength and Creativity  For the Shaktis, dance transforms into a language that depends on the expressive power of movement . They use dance as a means of expressing their dreams, creativity, and strength. They are able to express their feelings through the grace and fluidity of classical dance, turning hardship into strength. Classical dance allows them to channel their emotions, turning adversity into resilience. The significance of classical dance lies in its capacity to foster personal growth. Learning this art form takes discipline, dedication, and creativity, all of which contribute to the development of character as well as skill. Many of our Shaktis use dance as a kind of therapy , giving them a safe place to think and express themselves in ways they might not have otherwise been able to. They embrace their actual selves, letting go of inhibitions, and breaking through social and personal barriers with every step. Lighting the Path to Empowerment  Every dance journey begins with a single step, opening the door to confidence, self-discovery, and endless possibilities. The Shaktis view every performance as an opportunity to demonstrate resilience as much as talent. It’s about lighting the path for themselves and those who will follow. Through classical dance, they rise, shine, and carve out their space in the world. At Sarvam Foundation, we believe in the power of dance to inspire change. We give these girls a chance to reach their full potential by providing them with a platform for artistic expression. Dancing for Change, Hope, and a Better Tomorrow  We dance together for change, for hope , and for a future in which every person can rise by their own talents, no matter what their background. Except this time you aren’t a student, you are a teacher . Well, this is what our Shakti experienced this summer: first day of school, journey filled with learning and growth.  Our Shaktis, Simran, Neelam, Inderjeet, Usha and Shanti from our second senior batch have secured teaching internship positions at the prestigious Heritage School, Vasant Kunj, Delhi. Their roles range from Class teacher to librarian. Their days during the internship began with prayer setting a calm and focused tone for the learning ahead. They met their mentors, received their timetables, and prepared to dive headfirst into their new responsibilities. Their internship entailed several tasks, this hands-on learning enabled them to exhibit a myriad of skills ranging from data entry to effective communication. They didn’t just dutifully complete the work assigned to them but also left a lasting impact on their students and peers. For instance, our Shakti, Inderjeet, identified a gap in the students' mannerisms and took the initiative to teach them basic etiquette, discipline, and how to follow instructions, showcasing their ability to be changemakers. This is the very essence of the Sarvam spirit - identifying needs and actively bridging learning gaps. Our Shaktis describe this internship as an eye-opening experience. It was filled with lessons learned, revelations discovered, and the deep sense of gratitude towards their mentors and the Sarvam Foundation. They acknowledge the profound impact this experience has had on their personal and professional growth. We are incredibly proud of Simran, Neelam, Inderjeet, Usha, and Shanti for their achievements and look forward to seeing them thrive in their internships.
