At Sarvam Shakti, we understand that true empowerment comes from within. While our goal is to provide marginalized girls with holistic education and life skills, we also recognize the importance of mental health and emotional well-being. Without mental resilience and emotional strength, academic progress alone cannot drive success. That’s why mental health support is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring our Shaktis not just survive but thrive in all aspects of life.
Addressing Mental Health in Marginalized Communities
Mental health issues tend to affect marginalized communities more intensely. The burden of social inequality, economic struggles, and gender discrimination often takes a heavy toll on young girls. And without awareness or access to proper care, these challenges grow more severe. At Sarvam, we see these obstacles clearly and are determined to fill this gap with our approach, combining education with mental wellness.
Sarvam’s Holistic Approach to Mental Health and Well-Being
Building Confidence Through Leadership Roles: We encourage our Shaktis to take on leadership roles in their schools, communities, public events and at Sarvam. These roles whether it’s as class monitors or representing Sarvam help build self-confidence. They’re not just responsibilities; they are opportunities for our girls to understand their own potential, take ownership of their choices, and inspire others.
Creating Safe Spaces for Open Conversations: For mental health to flourish, girls need safe spaces where they can express themselves without fear. Sarvam provides just that. Our founder, Nehha Bhatnagar hold regular sessions where the girls can share their worries, their dreams, and their anxieties. These interactions ensure that no girl is left alone in her emotional journey.
Yoga and Meditation for Mental Balance: Our Shakti Strong program introduces yoga and meditation as tools for mental calmness and mindfulness. Through yoga, the girls strengthen not just their bodies but their minds, learning techniques to handle stress. Meditation sessions are particularly helpful in teaching them how to breathe through their challenges, creating emotional balance.
Nourishing the Mind Through Nutrition: Physical health is directly linked to mental well-being.That’s why our Shakti Sanjeevini program focuses on nutrition. A balanced diet of bananas, jaggery, chickpeas, and our specially prepared 18-ingredient juice keeps our girls physically strong and mentally alert. We’ve seen how good nutrition supports their overall well-being, helping them concentrate better and feel more energized.
Creative Expression through Dance and Art: At Sarvam, dance and art are more than just cultural activities—they are ways for our girls to express their emotions. Through Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and various artistic forms, they find outlets for their feelings. This creative expression is deeply therapeutic, helping them turn emotional challenges into strength.
Why Mental Health Matters
Mental health is about much more than overcoming struggles; it’s about building resilience. By supporting the emotional well-being of our girls, we are laying the groundwork for their overall success—whether in school, their future careers, or their personal lives. The tools they acquire at Sarvam help them to face challenges with calmness and confidence. They also learn the value of seeking support when needed, helping them realize they don’t have to face the world alone.
Empowering the Mind for a Brighter Future
At Sarvam Shakti, we firmly believe that education and mental health go hand in hand. True empowerment doesn’t stop at academic excellence—it includes emotional strength and self-worth. When a girl is mentally strong, she can break through any societal barrier, paving her way toward a brighter future.
By offering a holistic approach that combines education, leadership development, yoga, nutrition, and creative expression, we are not just building minds—we are building futures. Our commitment to mental health ensures that our Shaktis don’t just survive; they thrive, facing life with resilience, courage, and a sense of self-worth.
“Empowering the mind is the first step to changing the world. When we nourish both the heart and spirit, there are no limits to what our girls can achieve”
