Life Skills Training for Girls from Marginalized Communities

In the world today, pursuance of aspirations of many girls is stifled by the existing imbalance of genders that is widely prevalent across many nations, and more so in India. One program that is really making a difference, is SARVAM's Life Skills Training Program that arms marginalized girls with the skills they need to face life and the world independently and confidently.


Exploring SARVAM’s Life Skills Training Program


Dedicated to integrated rural development, SARVAM, a project of Sri Aurobindo Society, aims for the holistic development of families with particular attention to girl children from identified marginalized communities.


The Life Skills Training Program strives to enhance their self-awareness, and decision-making capacity and problem-solving skills and nurture emotional resilience and Life skills training is above academic as it prepares them with applications that bring substantial change in the lives of such girls.


This Training Serves Girls Outside the Classroom.


  • Better Self-Esteem and Confidence

Girls from marginalized backgrounds grow up in a culture which suppresses their voices. The SARVAM program provides and fosters that confidence, allowing them to express their views and make informed choices.


  • Better Career Opportunities

They are better positioned through training in communication, financial literacy, and leadership to seek employment, start their own ventures, or receive higher education and break the cycle of poverty.


  • Improved Well-being and Health

Providing information on hygiene, diet and mental well being the program helps girls to

grow up in a healthy way.


  • Improved Health And Well-Being

Through guidance on hygiene, diet, and the cultivation of mental health, the program allows girls to mature in an improved state of body and mind while taking substantial steps towards understanding their rights regarding reproductive safety and health.


Exploitation Protection


When girls are trained in life skills particularly with respect to defense and law, they are protected from exposure to abuse, able to recognize and report all forms of crimes, abuse, and discrimination.

This training has a ripple effect on these girls where they become change agents and role models, advocating and inspiring others to pursue education and stand up for their rights.
