  • A Republic Day 2024 performance to remember on Ambedkar Jayanti

India commemorates Ambedkar Jayanthi or Bhim Jayanti on April 14th, honoring Dr. B.R Ambedkar, the architect of India's Constitution, who dedicated his life to the ideals of equality and social justice. His birthday is also referred to as 'Equality Day' by some in India. Today as we celebrate his birthday, we get reminded of the Constitution and Republic Day. Every year on Republic Day, India celebrates the adoption of the Constitution, a document that represents Ambedkar's vision for an India where every citizen enjoys equal rights and opportunities. This year 2024, the spirit of Ambedkar fell in deeply with the young women of Sarvam Shakti, who took center stage on Republic Day. Dressed in vibrant costumes, the Shaktis radiated confidence, and national pride, captivating audiences with their talent and dedication. “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.” - Dr. B.R. Ambedkar With these words of Dr. Ambedkar, the Shaktis showed their progress to audiences across Gurugram who witnessed their passion and skill firsthand Belmonte, Gurugram 15 Shaktis mesmerized the audience with 3 semi-classical dances and a stunning yoga performance set to patriotic melodies. Shakti Ujala's introduction and their graceful, flowing moves to "Paani" sparked enthusiastic applause. Anu Jindal Garg, Head of BJP social media and a resident of Heritage City, invited us to this event and always supported Shaktis with donations, distributions, and stages to perform. Ritu Mehta, a resident of Heritage City, was truly impressed by the Shaktis potential and their English-speaking skills.  Check out her testimonial in this video: Exotica, Gurugram Eight Shaktis showcased their talent in Exotica, earning praise for their classical dance to "Ganayaka" and their intricate yoga poses to "Ae Watan." Thanks to Ms. Alka Sondhi, a core team member, Head of the Shakti Shiksha Project, and a resident of that community, we had the chance to perform in Exotica. The girls looked beautiful in their tricolor shawls, complemented by the vibrant tricolor decorations. On January 26, 2024, the spirit of B.R. Ambedkar was alive not just in the celebration, but also in the confident performances of the Shaktis. Ambedkar's words once warned of the contradictions within India's democracy. But through the Shaktis, we witness hope. Their smiles, talent, and determination prove that a more just and equal future is within reach. A Decade of Empowering Young Girls As 2024 unfolds, Sarvam Shakti celebrates a momentous milestone – our 10th year of working tirelessly to empower young girls from marginalized backgrounds in Delhi and beyond! Since 2013, we have faced many battles and struggles, yet we grew from 20 to a massive 300+ girls in a decade. This is a time to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared with our dedicated team, our amazing Shaktis, and all our wonderful supporters. Educating a girl can transform her life prospects and the prospects of the world. Yes, Sarvam Shakti started with a vision to empower underprivileged girls and make them recognize their inherent worth and create their own stories with confidence. This project offers both traditional and modern wisdom. Under this project, Shakti Sadhana, and Shakti Strong are the traditional learnings that teach them classical dance and yoga. Shakti Speak and Shakti Shiksha teach them English and essential computer skills. Along with these learnings, Sarvam Shakti wants the girls to be physically strong too and provides nutritious food and drink (Shakti Sanjeevani). The Leading Light of Sarvam: Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar Driving back on the journey of the Sarvam Foundation, it all began on a stage. In 2010, Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar, a renowned dancer, shared insights on "the power of dance" at the TEDx Pune Conference, which paved the way for the birth of the Sarvam Shakti. Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar, the founder, holds the belief that dance can be a pathway to inner connection, opening doors to new experiences. She advocates that through dance and other skills, one can cultivate discipline, enjoy physical well-being, experience therapeutic effects, and develop aesthetic sensibilities. • Shaktis Take the Stage at The Heritage School: KALAATMAK 2023

The Heritage School is one of the prestigious schools committed to quality education in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. Some of our Shaktis work as Interns in the school. The school conducts an arts fest called Kalaatmak every year. And on December 23, 2023, ‘Kalaatmak 2023’ was a smash and spread a joyous aura in the ground. The theme of this event is ‘Vasudeva Kutumbakam’ which means one place, one family, one future. Shaktis received an invitation from The Heritage School to perform in the fest and had a warm welcome that day. About 90 Shaktis took part and performed in the event. The girls dressed up and helped each other with the beauty aids and their faces looked radiant. Oh Yeah! they are bold and beautiful. Everyone looked elegant in their dance suits. Three Shakti Sadhanas (Dance) and a Shakti strong (Yoga) Performance were planned that day. It was an open ground surrounded by the audience. When their performance was about to start the Shaktis were a little nervous. Ms. Hemangi Bhatnagar was their energy drink and she was beside them throughout all the performances and didn’t sit even for a minute. Shaktis first performance was Shakti Strong (Yoga). When the ‘Bharat Ki Beti’ song was played the girls showcased beautiful yoga poses which implied that they are the empowering daughters of India. The crowds were as loud as the sea when the girls lifted both their legs and were stunned by their graceful yet challenging Asanas. The second performance was the Shakti Sadhana (Dance). The girls danced to ‘Gyan Ki Roshni’ and showed their kathak and Bharatanatyam dance skills. With their elegant and intense moves, they expressed the importance of hunger and education. The Shaktis were drenched in thunderous claps as the audience was completely moved by their performance. The third and the fourth Sadhana were the Garba and Bhangra performances to enthrall the audience. When the girls started dancing the whole crowd started cheering and making noise. At the final performance of the Bhangra dance, the whole crowd stood up and joined the girls and followed their moves. A good dancer should make others dance. Isn’t it? The Shaktis received a huge round of applause after all the performances. A happy group picture was taken to mark this success story in the girl's lives. Dreams Are Real “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic it takes sweat determination and hard work”- Colin Powell. Every Shakti in our Sarvam has dreams filled with desires and aspirations. Despite being marginalized girls, they believe in hard work and perseverance to achieve their dreams. As a torchbearer in their lives, Sarvam supports and empowers Shaktis through classical dance, yoga, and English training and also provides them with wholesome food. Opportunities like these events make them move closer to their dreams, boost their confidence, and they feel more dignified and happier. These moments are the rewards for their grit and determination. And yes, they are turning their dreams into reality. The Golden Voices Fulfillment comes through words and appreciation. Sudha, one of the teachers at The Heritage School, expressed that she was so proud of the girls for uplifting their lives and appreciated the interns at their school. She was mesmerized by their performance that day and her eyes wished for a never-ending performance from the girls. These golden words fulfilled our hearts and the Shaktis will feel more positive. We are more than thankful to The Heritage School and the Principal for giving Shakti a platform to show their talents. Written by: Shagunthala Ravi Proofread and Edited by: Kritika Saraf

Even US Commerce Secretary Ms. Gina Raimondo was present wearing Indian attire! The stage hosted many other performers as well. The day wasn't just about their performance! The Shaktis rejoiced in the festive atmosphere, dancing to songs sung by other performers and joining in a spirited rally, their voices echoing with "Bharat Mata Ki Jai!" They even had the chance to meet and play Holi with Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari. Their adventure included going through the security checkpoints and ending with delicious food. Later, the Sarvam team visited the residences of Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Dr. Ravishanker (both Members of Parliament) for more Holi celebrations. Sweets were distributed to the Shaktis as a token of celebration at the residence. This landmark performance, and the joyous celebration surrounding it, lighted a path of confidence within our Shaktis. The Shaktis were deeply grateful to Ms. Hemangi Bhatnagar for this incredible opportunity to meet notable people. Holi 2024 and Shaktis Celebrations Teacher Interns Shine On March 22, 2024, Our 5-teacher intern Shaktis celebrated Holi with the teachers and the Principal of the Heritage School, Dr. Sunita Swaraj. Exactly a year ago, when these Shaktis were about to go for the teacher intern interviews, they hesitated and never wanted to take the next step and be a teacher. Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar and Ms. Hemangi Bhatanagar convinced and motivated them to go for it. And now they feel happy about this life as the school takes good care of them and gives them all the facilities. Today, they are celebrating Holi as teacher interns along with other teachers in the school and they feel proud and self-worthy. The Colors of Kindness On March 24, 2024, 8 Senior Shaktis were invited as a guest to Ms. Dipanvitha’s house (Family friend of Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar and Hemangi Bhatnagar). They went to celebrate Holi and her birthday. Shaktis were well dressed and they enjoyed Keerthan and Bhajan, gave a beautiful dance performance for the song Hori Khele Raghuveera, and offered prayers to God. Flowers replaced colours, laughter filled the air, and delicious food warmed their hearts. They all had a good conversation. Ms. Dipanvitha's kindness extended to tasty chocolate desserts and thoughtful gifts, including sarees – a treasure for these girls. It was a well-spent evening and the Shaktis had the opportunity to meet new people and step outside their comfort zones. This Holi 2024 was about new connections, breaking boundaries, and the sheer delight of being celebrated. As colors swirl and laughter fills the air, join us to support the Shaktis and their transformations. Together, we can spread the colors of education, health, and community to those who need it most. • Investing in Shaktis: Sarvam Foundation’s Journey

On this International Women's Day 2024, Sarvam stands with the United Nations' call to "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress". Women are warriors, tirelessly breaking barriers to unleash their potential. It's time to move beyond celebrating them and invest in their limitless spirit. Investing in girls isn't just the right thing, it's the key to building a more just and prosperous India. The Power of Education and Skill Development "When girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous." - Michelle Obama Educating and empowering women with skills is a fundamental human right and a powerful force for economic prosperity. When women have access to education, they gain financial independence, make informed choices about their lives, promote healthier families, and eat healthy food.  They also have a better understanding of their rights and will be more likely to speak out against discrimination and violence. Skill development bridges the gap to employment, driving personal growth and national economic advancement. Investing in girls' education and skills, we unlock their potential as leaders, change-makers, and key contributors to a stronger, more prosperous world. Imagine the impact – if all girls finished school and entered the workforce, India could boost its GDP by a staggering $770 billion! Isn’t it great? Shaktis on the Rise Indeed, women are a force for positive change – and nowhere is this truer than in our Shaktis. These once underprivileged girls now symbolize the transformative power of investing in women's potential. Through education, skills training, and the nourishment of their spirits, our 300+ Shaktis rise in many ways. These are girls like Muskan and Adrika, who dared to explore their potential despite circumstances. While five Shaktis are successfully working as teaching interns at Heritage School, many Shaktis are interviewing for teaching internships this month. They break down barriers, igniting a change in their families and communities. The Shaktis' ambition and successes inspire not just individuals, but whole communities. Parents once hesitant to invest in daughters now see the vast potential their girls hold. Shakti Neelam, facing countless hardships, didn't give up on her education. Today, she's an inspiring example to other girls. Shakti Simran, the inspiring head girl of her school, through her leadership, changes how people view what girls can achieve. Shakti Kritika and others showcase their dance and yoga talents, challenging outdated beliefs and proving girls belong in every arena. Imagine when thousands more girls from underprivileged backgrounds have this chance! Let their stories inspire us to build a world where every woman has the chance to reach her full potential. Women Leading the Way at Sarvam Shakti: A Force for Change Strong, dedicated women are the beating heart of Sarvam Shakti. Ms. Nehha Bhatnagar, our visionary founder, saw a world where girls were held back and limited. She didn't accept this reality, instead dreaming of a brighter future filled with opportunity. That dream is what we're building every single day. At Sarvam Shakti, we believe in the power of teamwork. We're grateful for the amazing men who support our mission! They work side-by-side with our incredible women, providing strength and fostering a culture of equality for everyone. They understand that true empowerment comes from working together, and their contributions are invaluable. Ms. Hemangi Bhatnagar, our incredible CEO, is the engine that keeps Sarvam Shakti running smoothly. Her dedication ensures that our programs have a lasting impact on the lives of the Shaktis. We also have a team of amazing female teachers, counselors, and more who use their skills and overflowing care to help the Shaktis blossom into the confident, capable young women they were always meant to be. Sarvam’s Mission for Change "When we invest in women, we invest in a powerful source of global development” - Melinda Gates Sarvam Foundation sees great potential in every underprivileged girl who enters our doors. Our mission is to unlock that potential through quality education, skills training, dance and yoga, and nutritious food. It isn't just about creating successful individuals. It's about nurturing compassionate leaders, resilient problem-solvers, and girls who possess the values to restore India's strength. Our Shaktis are growing with talent, waiting for the chance to shine. By investing in them, we invest in a brighter, more sustainable future for India and the world. • Women’s Day 2024: The Shaktis Triumph (Part-I) with an Announcement!

Women's Day isn't just about a date on the calendar – it's about celebrating the endless potential within every woman. For our Shaktis, March 8th, 2024, was an unforgettable chapter in their story. It was a day when their dreams felt closer and their Shaktis unleashed. From a warm welcome at the luxurious Leela Ambience Hotel to the lively celebration at the Galleria Market, our Shaktis shined. Around 40+ girls from the Gurugram chapter participated on that day.  With each graceful dance step, confident yoga pose, and heartfelt performance, they made audiences cheer and hearts open. They danced for the women in the hotel, for the community leaders, and most importantly, for themselves. First Venue: The Leela Ambience, Gurugram The Shaktis, accompanied by office bearers and Ms. Hemangi Bhatnagar, arrived at the Leela Ambience Hotel. Being marginalized girls, they stepped into a world of five-star luxury and everyone gave a heartwarming welcome and a gesture that said, ‘You belong here, you are valued’. The grand welcome melted away any nervousness, replacing it with pure excitement. After a delicious lunch buffet, it was time to take the stage. The hall was filled with an all-women audience – the hotel's incredible staff gathered to witness the Shaktis' talents. Shaktis gave 5 to 6 performances that included Bharatnatyam, Kathak and yoga. But the most moving moments came with Luka Chuppi – a performance filled with such emotion it brought tears to the audience's eyes.  Then, an expressive dance to the poem from Pink rendered by Amitabh Bachchan represented the very spirit of female empowerment and gave goosebumps to the audience. The applause thundered. These women weren't just impressed, they were genuinely touched by the Shaktis' artistry and potential. Ms. Hemangi Bhatnagar's speech was packed with pride, not just for the girls' achievements, but for the vital role classical dance plays in unlocking their confidence and expressing themselves. This incredible opportunity wouldn't have been possible without the steadfast support of three key figures at the Leela Hotel: Deepika Panditha (HR): Her coordination made the entire event run seamlessly. Jaydeep Anand (Vice President): His warmth and down-to-earth nature made the Shaktis feel valued and welcomed. Meenakshi Prabhakar: A true champion for Sarvam and the Shaktis, her continued support, even after transitioning from Hyatt to Leela, has been invaluable. Gratitude & Growth: The Leela Hotel Partnership We are happy to announce that The Leela Ambience Hotel is joining hands with us to support and encourage our Shaktis. This partnership builds upon our past successes where Shaktis have showcased their talents through Inner Wheel Club. This collaboration in the coming years is going to be massive. Witnessing the talents and the potential of the Shaktis, The Leela Hotel is going to extend its support through job opportunities and event opportunities for them. This hospitality industry is planning to offer its administrative roles in the future. This encourages our Shaktis and makes their dreams come true. This kind of support pushes Sarvam and its mission to take another powerful step forward, thanks to the support of The Leela Ambience Hotel and we can't wait to see the amazing things our Shaktis accomplish with them. This partnership is a beautiful suite! Second Venue: Galleria Market, DLF Phase 4, Gurugram A couple, Ajay Sharma and Vinitha Sharma organized the women’s day event and invited our Shaktis to perform. Evenings don't dim a Shakti's light. At the Galleria Market, despite a long day, our girls sparkled again. They started with Bharatnatyam and danced to Gananayaka and Namo Namo Shiva, which filled the air with the sacred energy of Mahashivratri. The graceful moves of Namo Shiva, which they rehearsed in just 2 days, showcased their dedication. The backdrop looked great and complemented Shaktis performances. Shakti Ishika bravely overcame the missed introduction notes, somehow managed to remember, and gave the speech, expressing the ’Never Give Up’ spirit we nurture. The host praised this resilient nature and the crowd gave warm support. When Shaktis gave the yoga performance, there were thunderous claps from the audience and they were stunned by their flexibility. Shaktis were given healthy refreshments that evening. Sunitha Yadav, the Mayor of Gurugram, gave certificates to the Shaktis and a trophy to Sarvam. This trophy marks the achievements and efforts of Shaktis. The parents of the girls were so proud to see their daughters perform in such big stages and get rewards from the dignitaries of society. This Women's Day, the world saw a glimpse of the future our Shaktis are creating – a future where every girl has the support to reach her fullest potential. With your help, we can make every day feel empowering. Join us in volunteering for skill building, donating, and sharing the Shaktis stories. Together, let's turn a single day of celebration into a lifetime of opportunity for our incredible Shaktis. Written By: Shagunthala Ravi Proofread and Edited By: Kritika Saraf

  • Menstruation – A matter of knowledge and Dignity

As the country has been talking about HPV and cervical cancer in recent days, it is necessary to create awareness of menstrual health and hygiene and put a strong foundation to the basics. “All females deserve menstrual well-being, and that includes knowledge and reassurance about her body from the earliest possible age”, said Nikki Tajiri, the period poet, who wrote many poems on creating a period-positive environment for children. Talking about menstruation is becoming more common, but many girls still lack the knowledge and resources for healthy, confident periods. Sarvam Shakti understands that education is key. So, Sarvam took a small initiative to educate our Shaktis about menstruation to create a bigger impact. A workshop was conducted at Sarvam’s Gurugram center by the students from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) college. The senior Shaktis attended this workshop and about 4 students from the VIPS college enlightened them on the topic “Menstrual Health and Hygiene”. The girls were so involved and they learned and enriched their knowledge by learning about their bodies, different menstrual products, and how to manage cramps naturally, in this informative session. They were told about the cost-effective and eco-friendly options for sanitary pads. Did you know about this? No worries! We worked on a small calculation. The average cost of pads for a year is 50*12 = 600, while the menstrual cup or a bunch of 5 washable and super-comfy cotton pads that averagely cost around Rs.300 and can last for 10 years! Isn’t it great? The speakers patiently explained the biological processes behind menstruation with the help of clear diagrams for a better understanding and Shaktis got clear clarity of their own bodies. The myths and stigma about the periods were completely bulldozed that day. They discussed doing yoga, taking rest, and eating healthy foods instead of pills for cramps during menstruation. Dispelling myths and empowering girls with knowledge were the heart of this workshop. Sarvam doesn't want this knowledge to stay within our walls hoping for a change in this society and to create awareness among the uneducated. Menstruation is just another natural process in this whole world. Poverty, Stigma, and Limited education and facilities are the challenges faced in our society. Education on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene” is the solution to all these challenges. Educating poor people about hygiene and helping them with safe alternatives. Education eradicates myths and makes girls and women feel more confident about their bodies. Yes, Menstruating women are not impure! Let us all join together and empower girls and women with accurate information and education on menstruation. It is a dignity and never a barrier to their achievements. • #HumansOfShakti, Kritika secures 4th position in the state-level dance competition

Have you ever moved out of your hometown? Oh! Yes, it’s a tough decision to start anew but a surprising way to see great things in life. This is an inspiring story of our Shakti Kritika Chaudhary who moved from her hometown with an empty bag, filled it with surprising valuables, and continues to fill it.  Let’s delve and find out! SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL SAPLING Kritika and her family moved to Gurugram years back from West Bengal. At present, she lives with her parents and a brother in a small rented house in Sikanderpur Ghosi. Her father is a painter and her mother is a maid. She’s in 11th grade and her brother is in college. She is studying at P.M. Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Chakkarpur. Kritika is full of potential and always longing to achieve big in her life. She joined Sarvam Shakti in 2019. She got interested in dance and started learning Bharatnatyam. The Early Struggles Being relocated from a different state her major challenges at the early stage were the language and the level of confidence. She struggled with both Hindi and English and in turn, it affected her confidence in every aspect. The insecurity and the lack of trust made her parents turn down Sarvam and didn’t allow her to pursue dance initially. She never gave up and continued her practice despite their pressure. The struggle continued until the day of her first stage performance. After seeing her performance her parents felt very happy. She proved her potential to them that day and gained respect for herself. Then her parents along with Sarvam started encouraging and supporting her to achieve her dreams. A Day in Kritika’s Life Kritika wakes up early and gets ready for school. She eats breakfast helps with some household chores and goes to school. After school, she directly goes to Sarvam. In Sarvam, she practices dance and yoga. She takes computer and English lessons. Since she struggles with Hindi, she practices peaking in Hindi with everyone here. And then she goes back to home. Her tiny life rewards around her home school and Sarvam. Nourishments to the roots of the sapling Kritika was a quiet, introverted girl who considered anger and shedding tears often as her weakness when stepped into Sarvam back then, but never short of capabilities. She actively involved herself in learning dance yoga and languages. These learnings slowly started to create a positive impact on her body and mind. She can find a lot of changes in her personality, and behavior, and positive feeling of confidence and clarity. She started to get rid of her weaknesses and discover her strengths. Shakti Sanjeevani (nutritious food and drink) in Sarvam is adding strength to her body as well. She is starting to walk on the right road and framed three goals for her life. She wants to make her parents happy by buying a new house for them. She wants to help the people in need by starting an NGO like Sarvam. She wants to become a Bharatnatyam teacher. While marching towards these goals she said she wanted to turn the poor person to rich and fight and stand up for women’s suppression in interior parts of India if she had a superpower to change the world. She always feels happy and very grateful for Sarvam and proud of herself for traveling this long way. Blooming towards the Sunlight At times, Kritika loses confidence and decides to go back to her old self. Ms. Himangi Bhatnagar talks to her during those times boosts her confidence and reminds her about the path she travelled. A sapling can bend but never break and this paved the way for glorious moments in her life. Kritika always considers Miss Himangi Bhatnagar as her role model and she gets emotional seeing the care from her which is more than her mother’s care. She remembers her first performance which changed her life. She showcased a Bharatnatyam performance at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurugram, and received a lot of appreciation for her expressions and moves. Witnessing her blooming talents and skills, Kritika was selected as one of the five students for block level dance competition by her school where two schools competed. We take a pride moment here to announce that all those five students are Sarvam Shaktis! She won this competition and took her first successful step in her life. Second block level competition In this competition, six schools participated. She was too nervous as it was her solo performance for the first time. The stage fright made her forget a step at last, but she used the skills learned from Sarvam and managed beautifully and won first prize. District level She moved to compete at the district level following the win. It was held in Sadar Bazar Girls High School. Her efforts and perseverance fetched her first place at the district level too. She was all smiles and she met a few of her old teachers at the event. They were surprised to see her transformation and her talent in Bharatnatyam dance. All of them came forward to offer her help to achieve big in classical dance and they are overjoyed to see her growth. State-level Kritika advanced to state-level dance meet which was held in Panchkula, Punjab. She had to travel alone for the first time without her parents. She always expresses this heartwarming memory of Ms. Himangi Bhatnagar on how she called her every few hours and kept checking in on her. She worked very hard for this competition and met many talented competitors from all over India. She secured 4th position and felt very great to achieve this milestone. She gained a lot of experience and had an opportunity to meet great dancers who were the judges in the competition. Her parents are so proud to see the efforts and hard work she has given so far. Right from the moment she adopted Shakti Sadhana(dance) and Shakti Strong(yoga), she is showing a remarkable transition and getting recognition for her talents and moving towards her dreams. Remember the empty bag at the beginning? Kritika’s achievements so far are because of the confidence and the talent she is building, perseverance, and a healthy mind and body. These are the surprising valuables that are peeping out as leaves. This sapling is growing into a mature tree blossoming with leaves, fruits, and flowers and we continue to water it to achieve her dreams and she strives to provide shade and shelter to others like her in the future.

  • #HumansOfShakti, 18-year-old Neelam is making her mother proud

Aaiye sunte hain Neelam Ki Kahaani! #HumansOfShakti Neelam lives in Chakkarpur, Gurgaon with her mother and brother, in the toughest living conditions, that you and I can only possibly imagine. She was born in a small town of Bihar, Ratwarand and she is presently studying at PM Shri Government Model Sanskriti School, Chakkarpur, Gurgaon. In a largely patriarchal society where the father is considered the sole breadwinner of the family, she grew up in adverse financial conditions as her mother managed to assume the role of both parents while working and earning for her family as a housemaid. It's not easy, it is not at all easy. Her elder brother is a construction worker, hence, he is currently a big support for the family, income-wise. Together, they earn a modest monthly income of 8000 rupees, which makes it challenging to cover the daily household expenditures and Neelam's education expenses. DESPITE THE ODDS, NEELAM & HER FAMILY MANAGE TO FIND STRENGTH AND UNITY IN LIFE'S UPS AND DOWNS❤️ SARVAM SHAKTI IS HER SOURCE OF STRENGTH, SHE SAYS Neelam crossed paths with Sarvam Foundation in 2019. She has been a part of the Sarvam family for quite a few years now and has mastered her skills in yoga as well as dance, Kathak to be precise. Recently, during our Iskcon Temple visit for a stage performance, Neelam mentioned, "Didi, I am so happy that because of the performance opportunities at various venues, we get a chance to visit wonderful places like Isckon. I love traveling and it would not have been possible if I was not a part of Sarvam." It is not just the training in classical dance, yoga, ethics, values, and other life skills that matter, but the environment. At Sarvam, we ensure that our young girl children, not only receive the important skills training but also find peace, happiness, togetherness, friendship, respect, warmth, and comfort, which are not so common in their day-to-day lives at home and school. BEDROCK OF SUPPORT FOR THE SARVAM TEAM🤝 Sarvam Foundation's team and Neelam share a complementary relationship. She has played an instrumental role in helping us (the Sarvam team) smoothly take our organization's Sarvam Shakti project ahead. Right from helping Vijay Bhaiya maintain student records to assisting the Administrator with various office-related tasks, Neelam has always proved to be a gem. For Hemangi ma'am, Neelam is like her second daughter. They both share an inexplicable relationship of love and support. PERSISTENT LEARNER Bina Didi has always watched Neelam grow up as a persistent and hardworking young girl. Like other Shakti students, Neelam also starts her day at around 5:30 AM, helping her mother with all the household chores. She cooks food, cleans her home, washes the dishes, and then leaves for her school. Coming back from school, after some rest, she gears up for Sarvam classes dressed in Sarvam Shakti uniform. At the Gurgaon Sarvam Centre, she consistently learns Yoga, meditation, and classical dance from 3 PM to 6 PM. Her perseverance, dedication, and learning appetite are beyond comparison. Her go-getter attitude and all-time wide charming smile leave all of us in awe. Mrs. Hemangi says, "She is truly a golden heart, a pure soul, rare in today's world." LEADERSHIP SKILLS ARE THRIVING We have noticed some significant improvements in Neelam's skill set and personality, besides being a keen learner. Her leadership qualities are notably improving day by day. HOW? In the learning process, Neelam makes sure that her peers and juniors are also making the most of this opportunity. In the absence subject teacher, she takes charge of tutoring the others and is rather a very firm mentor. She is a huge pillar of support for this foundation where she voluntarily takes the responsibility to ensure that every student is actively present and participating in all the events of the foundation. She is always taking care of the attendance of other Sarvam students. CONSISTENT PRACTICE LEADS TO PERFECTION 📚✍️ Being a student at a government school where the English language is seldom practiced, she finds it difficult to communicate in English and often feels anxious about it. But she refuses to give in to these feelings and rather takes it as a challenge that she must overcome this weakness. She ensures to better it, by constantly communicating with her Sarvam friends and seniors in English. She takes online English classes from her teacher, religiously. She prioritizes attending classes, even in urgent situations, driven by a strong desire to learn quickly. Her proficiency in spoken English has remarkably improved with her constant hard work after following her teacher's instructions at Sarvam Shakti for the past couple of months, boosting her self-confidence. Now she can speak long sentences in the English language fluently, such as "Ma'am, tomorrow can I take leave? I have to help my mother at home." It is a fact, that she is one of the true hardworking Shaktis at Sarvam. Her mother is proud of her 😊 NEELAM'S SWEET MEMORIES Neelam cherishes her first Sarvam stage performance in Vasant Kunj, where she nervously performed Yoga on "Ae Vatan." Over 20 confident acts later, from speeches to dance and yoga, she reflects on her growth with a calm heart and steady feet. Neelam proudly recalls the sweet moment of happiness and pride she saw in the eyes of her close family members, especially her mother, Bina Didi, Vijay Bhaiya, and Hemangi Ma'am, back in 2021, when she earned a trophy for securing 1st place in a three-legged race at a sports event by the Inner Wheel Club district, at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi 🏆 WELL, NEELAM IS NOT ALWAYS BLUE 💙 Neelam, a name resonating with the deep blue hues of sapphire, isn't confined to a single shade. Beyond the blue, she paints her life with the strokes of hard work, dedication, love, respect, and honesty. Like an artist with her canvas, skillfully applies mehendi, weaving finesse and creativity into each design. IN OTHER WORDS, SHE IS A PALETTE OF DIVERSE HUES. Recently, on 'Karwa Chauth,' she applied Mehndi to the hands of the ladies of nearby residential societies and made a good income along with her Sarvam friends. "If the efforts are consistent and pure, opportunities are endless." THE WORLD THROUGH NEELAM'S EYES Neelam, the 18-year-old with big dreams, was asked, "What if you had superpowers?" Guess what? She wants to use her magic to fight against the unfair treatment of girls and make life better for women. She thinks early marriages are a big no-no. Despite being young, Neelam's thoughts are like savior plans – powerful and ready to make the world a better place! NEELAM HOLDS HER MENTORS IN HIGH REGARDS Neelam says, "Hemangi Aai, Bina Didi, and Vijay Bhaiya are like role models to me. I learn from them every day. Their support motivates me to keep working hard. I wish to make them and my mother proud." NEELAM IS THE SUNSHINE AT SARVAM, CONSTANTLY STRIVING FOR A BETTER TOMORROW:) She's working hard and always spreading love. No matter what, she faces everything with a smile. We hope to see her doing great on her own very soon. Right now, she's focused on getting better at English, and she's doing amazing. Her journey with Sarvam Shakti has been like a fun ride, helping her discover herself in new ways. Neelam is just a lovely soul, making everyone happy around her. She's growing and learning every day, and we can't wait to see where life takes her. Neelam's story is like a little light that can inspire so many. 🌈💕
